Wendy Weymann Owner/Instructor at Wake Up Sup:
I’ve always loved the water; I learned to waterski when I was 9 years old. I skied for years on Okanagan Lake & the Kootenay River and then learned to wakeboard in my 20’s on Shuswap Lake. I discovered SUP in the summer of 2012 and instantly loved it, I had probably paddled a dozen times & the opportunity came up to take a SUP Yoga Teacher Training Course with Kristy Wright-Schell of SUP Vancouver.
I took the course & realized I wasn’t even holding the paddle correctly! After taking the course I got so much more out of paddling, they showed us how to turn & steer the board, how to paddle faster or slower and all the correct paddle skills. I was inspired to start Wake Up Sup; it seemed to incorporate everything I love: spending time on the water, yoga & moving meditation.
We all want to enjoy our lives, our time off & our families. SUP is a great way to do that! I’ve tried to build Wake Up Sup around these values:
2. Cultivating Community
3. Inspiring Youth
4. Spending Time on the Water
I hope you love SUP as much as I do,
